Trying To Get Finished

by Diana Wood
(Gateford,East Midlands,England)

I’m Diana Wood and I don’t seem to have time to finish any quilts at the moment.

I’ve been making doorstops for Christmas presents in all shapes and sizes. (Puppy dogs, cats, chickens, pears and mice.

I’ve got three quilts cut out. Two are hexagons made from 0.75cm hexies.

I have cut out west highland terriers and appliqued them on to squares and that is as far as I have gotten.

I had a west highland terrier.

Her name was Lucy and she was my world.

She passed away in march this year.

She was only 5yrs old and hadn’t been ill.

It caught me completely off guard.

I was devastated.

So the westie quilt will become my comfort blanket, when its finished that is.

The quilt is to be like a comfort blanket for me.

There's nothing like the lost of a beloved member of the family.

A quilt is a wonderful way to embrace her memory and love.

Let it heal you as you wrap up in the treasure of remembrance.
