Thread Color for Quilting

by Angie

I have a quilt that has black as the background fabric and there are multiple colors of blue, greens, and purples throughout.

What color thread should I use for quilting the top?

Hi Angie,

I think it depends on if you want the thread to stand out.

It is a matter of deciding if you want the quilting itself to stand out, or the piecing of the top.

If you would want the piecing to stand out, I would use black or clear thread. Black will fade into the back ground. Clear wouldn't be visible.

However, if you wish for the quilting stitches to stand out, I would pick silver. It would look magnificently metallic against the gorgeous quilt top that you have created.
