Quilt for my Mother

It was winter last year, when I planned to bring my mother to my place. The place she stays faces very bad weather conditions during winter. So I asked my mother to come down and stay with me, but she refused to do so as her health was not permitting.
Her birthday was coming near, so I planned to gift her something special and self-made. I thought about it a lot, but nothing came to my mind. Then suddenly one day when I was overlooking some old photos, I saw my old quilt which was very special to me and mom held onto it very strongly. I still remember that quilt, as my mother had kept it with utmost care. She says it reminds her my childhood moments.
I went to market to get all the necessary material and went to a good tailor for direction on how to make it. He showed me how to make it. I tried for some time and later mastered it. Of course the special touches were given by him. Then finally the quilt was completed. I felt very good and proud. That’s when I sent it to her.
She was very glad. Tears come to her eyes when she explained me how she felt. She said “I feel like cuddling you. I remember those days when I use to cuddle you in a quilt so that you did not feel chilly. Now I feel the same and I feel you are around me always. Thank you my child, it’s the most beautiful gift.”
That day I felt proud. As if I am with my mother always, giving her the warmth she requires.
