To fully inform you, I have only been quilting for about 4 years.
Friends came over from Australia and one of them was making hexagons. When she noticed I was watching, she asked if I wanted to try.
That is how I started and have not stopped since.
My best quilt, so my aunt would say, is the 2 memory quilts I made for her.
She had twin sons, Paolo and Mattia.
They are Italian and actually live in Italy.
Sadly Paolo passed away 2 years ago. He was only 30 years old. I went over for the funeral.
A few days after the event, I asked my aunt if I could make a memory quilt from Paolo's clothes.
She agreed.
So, I brought back some cotton shirts and some tee shirts.
Then, I proceeded to make two memory quilts from the fabric.
When I took them back over to her she was happy and sad, but she loves them. I am very proud to have made them. They celebrate his life.
I added photos of Paolo. Sunflowers were included because he liked them. The angels wings, because my aunt calls him her angel. Lastly, I added an applique and a photo of his Maine Coon cat.
These are quilts that I’ll never forget.
