My First Lap quilt

by Evelyn Johnson
(Garland, Texas, USA)

My daughter's teacher's father had to be placed in a nursing home due to his failing health. The teacher confided that her mother was taking it hard.

After I got home I went through my scraps and piles of fabric to see if I could find something to cheer her up.

When I found the pieces that were wanted, I made my first lap quilt.

After I gave the lap quilt to the teacher she told me that her mother had been a quilter for many years and she hoped that she would be inspired to take up her favorite hobby again.

To date, I do not believe she has.

Hopefully soon the quilting bug will bite her again.

Until then she has something happy and full of love to get her through this hard time.

I loved making it!

PS: The father passed away a few short months later.
