Memory Quilt

I was asked by a friend of mine to make a birthday present for her sister. I thought and thought about what would be a good present. Then it hit me - a memory quilt as I already had some pictures of her family on my computer, this seemed to be the perfect project.
I went right to work. I carefully picked out the fabric. I love floral prints. I just fell in love with this one. I pulled colors from the main fabric. They all seemed to go so well. Pulling out my photo fabric, I began immediately to get to work on it.
Cut here, sew there. I was building the squares one by one and adding a decorative stitch to frame each picture. It was all starting to come together. I felt the excitement with each stitch. I knew this would be something special for her to treasure.
After completing the top, I carefully chose my backing fabric. I decided on using a flannel backing. Once the backing was on, the quilting began. Finally, after about 3 days of working on the whole quilt, I was finished. It turned out better than I expected!
When it was given as the gift, the recipient was so excited to see old pictures on a quilt! What a way to have your memories preserved and displayed! These quilts are not only beautiful, but make a great gift.
I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to quilting, but I do so enjoy the craft and the challenges it brings me. Happy Quilting Everyone!
