I am having trouble making the Starflake Lap Quilt from Kim Diehl's Simple Sample book of 2020.


For the block I in the quilt, she refers you to the block as made in the sampler.

However, the sampler using 1 1/2 inch pieces while the lap quilt uses only 2 1/2 inch squares and rectangles.

Therefore, I do not understand how to make the first part of the block come out using only 2 1/2 in squares.

I have not found an errata for this pattern or book.
