How to Prepare 100% Cotton Bed Sheets for Quilt Panels

by Debbie Brown
(South Carolina)

I'm preparing to make a memory quilt out of baby clothes.

I will be using cotton bed sheets for panels.

This is my first quilt and not sure how to prepare the panels.

Since the sheets are 100% cotton, do I need to use a stabilizer to prevent wrinkles ?

I will be using a stabilizer on the clothes as most of them are made of knit fabrics.

Most of the clothes will remain whole except the back side as been removed.

The piece of clothing will be sewn onto the panel.

I just want the panel to remain as smooth as possible.

Thanks to everyone.

Normally, I would suggest just ironing the sheets.

However, because everything else will have a stabilizer to them, I would put stabilizer on the sheets too.

This way everything has a consistent feel and it will be guaranteed to be as flat as possible.
