Cutting Fabric

by Petia

Hi guys,

I'm trying to teach myself to quilt and am starting my very first project. I have my material and I need to start cutting my fabrics. The pattern say that I must cut a rectangle that is 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" and further on the instructions it states I must allow for a 1/4S. Is this 1/4S already included in the rectangle measurements listed above, or when I am cutting do I need to add the 1/4" S allowance and cut the rectangle at: 2 3/4" x 4 3/4"?

Thanks in advance

Hi Petia,

Have you asked the creator of the pattern this question?

They would have a definite answer for you.

I would assume that it already includes the 1/4 grace allowance, but I wouldn't be 100% sure either.

Worst-case scenerio would be that the final quilt will be smaller than expected.

I wish you well.

Happy quilting,
