Review of a Free Online Block of the Month Quilting Class

We like the last class so much that we decided to do a review on another free class.

This class is 2016 Summer Block of the Month by Carl Hentsch.

Get ready for some wonderful information broken down into monthly classes, for FREE!

First thing's first, the great part of this class is that it's in short videos. They are the perfect length to watch when you get little time to yourself.

The beginning of this class goes over some good information to give you the basics before we dive in deep to our monthly lessons.

You should already know how to cut pieces of fabric, press with an iron, and sew a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

Here is a break down of the first monthly lessons.

July's Lesson - Center Medallion

This lesson begins with foundation piecing to make the center medallion.

There is wonderful information jam packed into this lesson on the proper materials to use for foundation piecing.

This is extremely helpful for anyone that has done this type of piecing before or a new quilter willing to dive into a different technique!

If you pay attention to the non-speaking parts, you can really see the different steps to adding each piece.

Now this technique does take up time, but the perfection that comes as a result is completely worth it!

I love how this instructor teaches you to use washable glue instead of pinning the fabric to the paper.

Doing it this way prevents unnecessary rips to the foundation paper.

Even just the tip of how to trim the excess edge is excellent!

I also enjoy watching him use the stiletto while sewing the pieces together.

This looks like a nifty little tool that will make sure your last stitches don't waver at the end.

I'm going to be on the look out to get my own special little tool! ;)

That was the end of this lesson.

Now, I'm looking forward to next month's lesson.

We hoped you enjoyed this month’s issue of our quilting newsletter.
