Bee Quilting Designs

“There’s a Buzz about It”

These bee quilting designs are the perfect touch when your quilt is missing a little something special.

Most of the time you can’t even grasp what is missing, until you see something that would give the quilt a magical spark.  That’s when using one of our bee designs comes to the rescue.

Here we’ll go over what the designs look like and how to use them.

The Patterns

These pictures let you see what the designs look like after they are made.  Please keep in mind that yours will look different depending on which fabrics are chosen and the placement that they will have.

Feel free to save either or both of these designs to your computer.

Adjust the size if needed.  This can be done by using your computer’s basic editing software.

The How

Once the size of the image is to your liking, print it out on regular copy paper.  Then trace it onto the paper side of your favorite fusible.

We prefer Heat n Bond brand.  Lite hold is used for projects that will be washable and stitched down.  Ultra hold for wall hangs and framed quilts.

Do you have the designs traced onto the fusible?

Then cut out the design/s in-between the lines.  Be sure not to cut upon the inner line of the pattern at this time.  That will happen later.

It’s a good idea to have an envelope or a ziplock bag handy to put the pieces of fusible into.

There is no worse feeling than losing a piece and having to trace it and cut it out again, especially when you are on a roll.

Don’t let the sticky stuff touch the iron.

With a medium hot iron press the pieces onto the backs of the desired fabric.  Make sure the pieces are paper side up.

When the fusible is glued to the back of the fabric, cut along the lines of the design that are left.

Most likely you will be only cutting a thin layer of fabric along the edges.  This is good as it will prevent your fabric from fraying and giving your masterpiece an undesirable whiskered effect.

Be sure to peel off the paper. ;)

All that is left now is to find where on your quilt, square, or other material to place these designs.  Once you have that established, press the pieces into place with the medium hot iron again.

Then you may stitch down your applique with a tight zigzag or satin stitch if so desired.

Now you have magical bees bringing your work of art to life.

Wrap Up

Even though these free bee quilting designs are simple and easy to use, they do bring that extra special something to any crafting project.  We hope you enjoy.

Until next time.

Happy quilting,
